Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences more commonly known as PIEAS is top ranked engineering college in Pakistan located in the capital Islamabad. It was established by the Pakistan Atomic Energy commission to work primarily on nuclear sciences. It is an old college which was founded in 1967. Engineering courses offered by PIEAS are Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy and material Engineering and Nuclear Engineering. Because it is a government university therefore the fee is affordable, however, there is always a tough competition every year for admission because admission is given strictly on merit.
National University of Science and Technology
National university of Science and Technology (NUST) is ranked second in HEC engineering college ranking. It is also located in Islamabad. NUST was established in 1991. It offers Engineering Courses that lead to Masters and PhD. This highly ranked university is ranked 108th in Asia and ranks 401 to 450 in the world. In 2009, its ranking was in the top 350 in the world.
NUST has multiple engineering colleges around the country. Its electrical and mechanical college is in Rawalpindi, Department of Aeronautical Engineering is in Risalpur while the Department of Naval Engineering is in Karachi. Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences & Technology
Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences & Technology ranks third in HEC listings. It is located in Topi, an area near Swabi in province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was founded in 1988 and was named after the scientist Ghulam Ishaq Khan. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan the premier scientist of Pakistan was once professor there. Undergraduate Engineering courses offered there are electrical, electronic, civil, mechanical, chemical, metallurgy and material, computer system and computer software engineering.
University of Engineering and Technology (UET)
University of Engineering and Technology Lahore campus is ranked fourth in the ranking. It is the oldest engineering university of Pakistan. It was established in 1921 before the formation of Pakistan. It is ranked 282nd in the world with over 8 thousand students. University master degree programs in 1970 along with PhD programs. The university offers undergraduate engineering courses in 29 different fields of engineering. It is a large university with 16 hostels, which can accommodate 3000 students.
University of Engineering and Technology
University of Engineering and Technology is located in Taxila. It was an established in 1975 as a campus of UET Lahore before it was declared independent 1993. It offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees in the field of engineering. It also has a sub campus in Chakwal. Courses offered at UET Taxila are Computer, Telecom, Software, Electrical, Electronics, Civil and Mechanical while Mechatronics and Electronics are offered at sub campus Chakwal.
