Famous mathematician, philosopher, scientist, astronaut and physician, Bu Ali Al-Hussain Ibn E Abdullah Ibn E Sina was born on 21 June, 1037 in a village of Bukhara. He is also known as “Sheikh-Al-Raees.” In west he is known as “Avicenna”. In Europe his book “Al-Qanoon Fi Tibb” (Law of Medicine) remained the part of their syllabus for many years. His other book named “Kitab ul Adviya” is a famous book of medicine.

At the age of 6, he went to Bukhara
for his primary education. His father belonged to Ismaili sect and wanted his
son to be an Ismaili as well but he preferred Islam. At the age of 10, he
learned by heart the complete Holy Quran. Abu Abdullah Alnatali, the famous
philosopher was his teacher of mathematics, philosophy and logic. He also got
education in the field of medicine. At the age of 16, he did successful treatment
of the king of Bukhara,
Nooh Bin Mansur. As a reward he asked for the permission to use the royal
library. The permission was granted to him and this was a great help to enhance
his knowledge.
In year 1001, he went to Khuarzam and got the chance to interact with famous
scholars of the country. He also met “Al-Berooni” and “Al Iraqi” in Khuarzam.
At that time the ruler was ‘Ali Ibn E Mammon’ but after some years “Mahmud
Ghaznavi” became the King. He got attractive offers to stay there by the king but
he refused the offers because the king was an enemy of Ahl E Bayt and he was a
great lover of Ahl E Bayt. Because of this he had to leave Khuarzam and move to
Iraq.
He went to many countries like Jordan and Ray and worked in different fields.
Finally he went to Isfahan
and spent last 14 years of his life with Ala-O-Doula.
He wrote many books on mathematics, logic, philosophy, medicine and science. He
also contributed to the field of music by improving Farabi’s work. In the field
of chemistry he worked on the nature of different metals. He was the first
person to describe the terms of anatomy and gynecology. The famous books of
philosophy that serve as encyclopedias are Al Shifa (philosophy), Al Qanoon and
Al Adviya (medicine). Al-Nijat, Al-Isharaat and Al-Hidayat are his most famous
books. His books are translated in many other languages as well and are the
part of syllabus of many universities.
