Cabbage is a vegetable with round shape and soft light green in colour. The main reason behind its light colour unlike other vegetables is that cabbage is covered with leaves and is not exposed to direct sunlight.

Cabbage is rich in Vitamin C; it even contains more vitamin C than Oranges. Vitamin C in cabbage helps in the growth and development of the body. Though there are some health benefits of cabbage but there are some drawbacks of eating cabbage a well. Cabbage is a favourite vegetable of some people but it is not good enough to be added in a daily diet plan. It should be eaten less often.

However people who face flatulence after eating cabbage should blanch the cabbage for five minutes, change the water and then cook it in fresh water. This will reduce the chances of causing flatulence. People who suffer from Goiter (more common in women) should consult their physician before eating the cabbage as it contains iodine which is harmful for people who have related health conditions.
