The Holy Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) described dates as a fruit which belongs to heaven and contains the remedy for poison. These substances include iron, calcium, fats and phosphorus. Dates contain approximately 10.6 percent iron. This is much more than you can find in any other fruit or vegetable.

A saying of the Holy Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) describes Barni as a remedy for digestive problems. On the other hand, according to the Holy Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Ajwa is the fruit of paradise and carries a remedy for many diseases. Eating seven Ajwa dates early in the morning every day protects one from the effects of poison and the effects of Black Magic.
